Two Pet Supplements Fail Laboratory Test

ConsumerLab.com found no detectable levels of chondroitin sulfate
in two pet supplements that claimed to contain the ingredient, the testing organization
reported.
"We were shocked to find no detectable chondroitin
in two such products," the company reported. "In response to
this finding, ConsumerLab.com will be testing other pet supplements in the future."
(jOnsumerLab.com included six pet supplements within a total of 49 glucosamine,
chondroitin, and MSM supplements tested for ingredient contents. The company
listed four products, including the two pet supplements, as Not Approved. Four
other pet supplements passed the testing, including two glucosamine-only supplements,
one glucosamine-MSM combination and Nutramax Laboratories' Cosequin DS, a veterinary
channel glucosamine-chondroitin combination product.The two failed supplements
were also glucosamine-chondroitin combos.
Consumcr Lab.com named Nutramax because it participated in ConsumerLab.corn's
voluntary certification program. The other products' names are available on
a subscription basis.
